LOS ANGELES: Hoping to position itself as an across-the-board
challenger to PR Newswire and Business Wire, Internet Wire has inked a
number of deals to bolster the company’s service offerings.
Under the agreements, IW will distribute video and radio news releases
and other multimedia materials for News/Broadcast Network, Media On
Demand and Target Video News (TVN).
’Working with multiple providers makes us a more comprehensive resource
for the journalists and consumers who look to us for news,’ said IW EVP
of sales and strategic planning Jack Serpa.
TVN marketing manager Brian Unger, whose company has inked a deal
allowing IW to distribute its multimedia content, believes that IW will
soon surpass all rivals.
’Take Newstream.com (the Business Wire/Medialink joint venture), for
example,’ said Unger. ’Their audience is limited to 8,000 journalist
We have 25,000 registered journalists across the media spectrum.’
Newstream.com officials, however, aren’t exactly shaking in their
cyberboots over the announcements.
’We’re not in a numbers race here,’ said Medialink chairman, president
and CEO Larry Moskowitz. ’When a handful of would-be rivals throw
together unqualified numbers in the face of specific professional
objectives, it’s like comparing a rock to a building.’
Unger said his company and IW are up to the challenge: ’Sure, it’s David
versus Goliath, but we have a better product.’
