MusicMatch nabs its own Golin exec

SAN DIEGO: MusicMatch, the maker of best-selling MP3 player MusicMatch Jukebox, has hired away its agency contact from Golin-Harris’ LA office to fill the newly created position of corporate communications director.

Gary Brotman, a former Golin/LA account supervisor who helped develop

the firm’s now-thriving digital music practice, joined his former client

last month to oversee all PR and financial communications. A club/rave

DJ who had worked for Golin since 1996, Brotman called MusicMatch an

irresistible challenge: ’I can’t think of anywhere else where I’d have

the opportunity to compete head-to-head with a behemoth like Real

Networks.’



Currently the company’s only direct PR staffer, Brotman is seeking to

hire a PR manager and a PR coordinator. Golin remains MusicMatch’s

agency of record.
