PN’s gift opens a whole new world

We get a lot of tchotchkes around here at PRWeek - why, one editor’s desk is laden with more goodies than a four-year-old’s toy chest.

While we appreciate the attention, there’s not much we can do with beach

balls and straw hats - at least in the office. We said so to Porter

Novelli’s Bob Druckenmiller recently: ’Hey Bob, we love the T-shirts and

waffles, but why can’t you guys give us something we can use? Like a

decent letter opener?’

Days later, a large package arrived from PN. Enclosed was a letter

opener - of the 14th century variety. The four-foot-long, iron

broadsword rests menacingly in the newsroom, not too useful for opening

press releases but great for warding off aggressive pros who get past

our moat.
