BEDFORD, MA: OneCore, which provides financial management services to small businesses, has promoted Pamela Brewster to VP of marketing communications, a newly created post. Brewster, who joined OneCore in April 1999, will direct all corporate brand positioning efforts as well as media and analyst relations. Prior to arriving at OneCore, Brewster served as managing editor for Standard & Poor’s Published Image and worked for Bankers Trust.

LOS ANGELES: Capping off a competitive review orchestrated by search

consultant Jerry Swerling, University Access has named Benjamin

Group/BSMG its first PR firm of record. University Access, which

partners with top universities to provide graduate and undergrad

business courses online, has handled PR in-house since its 1996

launch.





NEW HAVEN, CT: Integrated shop Mason & Madison has named Francis Onofrio

as president of its PR arm. Onofrio, who joined M&M in February 1998,

was previously a PR director at Travelers Insurance and held marketing

communications and PR posts at Aetna. He is also president of the

Southern Connecticut chapter of the PRSA.





NEW YORK: Forbes.com has hired former Cahners PR exec Debbie Weathers as

director of communications. In the newly created post, Weathers will

oversee all external and internal communications for the Forbes.com Web

site. Weathers arrives from brandwise.com, where she was VP of corporate

communications.





WASHINGTON, DC: The Freedom Forum, a foundation that examines issues

involving freedom of speech and freedom of the press, has tapped Donna

Fowler as communications director. Fowler was formerly director of

public affairs for the American Federation of Teachers.





NEW YORK: MS&L Global Health has won two new accounts within the last

month worth around dollars 4 million in fees: Celebrex, an arthritis

treatment co-promoted by Searle (now part of Pharmacia) and Pfizer; and

Agilent Technologies’ healthcare solutions division, for which the

agency will run product marketing and corporate branding programs. The

firm has also promoted Wendy Lund to co-director of the NY healthcare

practice.





LOS ANGELES: The Lagrant Foundation, founded last year by Lagrant

Communications president Kim Hunter, is awarding dollars 50,000 in

scholarships to 10 minority students pursuing college degrees in PR and

related marketing fields. The winners were chosen from a field of 515

applicants, up from 139 last year.





WASHINGTON, DC: CARMA International has named Sandy Gardiner executive

consultant. Currently president of NY-based PR firm The Gardiner

Consultancy, Gardiner previously spent 18 years at British Airways in a

variety of senior PR posts.





NEW YORK: AirPrime, a supplier of next-generation modem cards, has

tapped Kratz & Jensen for a national PR campaign worth dollars 1 million

in annual billings. Other recent K&J wins include language-recognition

software provider Kiwilogic and OmniChoice.com.





NEW YORK: Nike Communications has promoted J. Michael Christmas from VP

to the newly created post of SVP. He will continue to manage accounts

for TAG Heuer and Bang & Olufsen while assuming a more active role in

agency management.
