ALEXANDRIA, VA: The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA),

a trade association which represents 85% of the bottled-water producers,

distributors and sellers in the US, has reached the final stages of its

agency search.

The IBWA, headquartered in Alexandria, VA, is looking for a

full-service, fairly large agency to help the group with strategic

counseling, media relations and crisis and issues management. Stephen

Kay, the group’s VP of communications, said that final presentations are

scheduled for later this week. He hopes to choose an agency by the end

of the month.

While Kay declined to name the finalists for the account, he said that

each of the firms being considered has a substantial Washington

presence, which he described as critical to the group’s efforts. Several

agencies were invited to bid on the business, but Kay would not reveal

how many responded to the organization’s RFP. He also declined to

release an approximate budget figure.

Kay said that a task group will look at the agency presentations and ask

for staff input, then either make its choice or seek additional

information.

The IBWA is comprised of more than 1,200 US-based and international

bottlers, distributors and suppliers of water.
