Socket PR, which has offices in Atlanta and Austin, recorded fee income

of dollars 2.8 million in 1999. ’This deal adds technical capability to

our own offices and puts us in the top five in Atlanta,’ said an H&K

source. ’It also gives us an introduction in Austin.’

Socket was founded in 1992 and counts two former Alexander

Communications VPs, Peter Baron and Beverly McDonald, as its principals.

The agency is expected to retain its independence, and its founders will

likely report directly to H&K president and CEO Tom Hoog.

Socket PR’s clients include IT management-solutions company 2nd Wave and

BrainBuzz.com.
