IRVINE, CA: Nexgenix, an Internet b-to-b consulting services

provider, is on the hunt for a new agency of record to handle its

$500,000-plus PR account.

According to director of marketing communications Michael Donner, who

joined Nexgenix from Solectron last December, a formal RFP will be sent

this week to a variety of agencies ’with Internet expertise and at least

$1 million in billings.’ He estimated the total worth of the account at

approximately $500,000 in annual fee income, with a monthly retainer in

the $30,000-$40,000 range.

For the past year, Nexgenix - which dedicated $10 million to a

comprehensive integrated marketing campaign in 1999 - has not employed a

full-time corporate PR agency of record, though the company has worked

with Ruder Finn and Shandwick on projects. Both firms have been invited

to pitch for the account.

’Having built a solid marketing and communications infrastructure, the

company is now better positioned to support a dedicated partnership,’

said Donner, who hopes to hire a firm by September 1. ’We’ve also

decided to focus more heavily on media and analyst relations as one of

the vehicles to help us communicate our differentiation to the

marketplace.’

A 10-year-old, publicly held company, Nexgenix has about 500 employees

in 20 offices worldwide. Clients include AIG, Lucent and Swatch.
