NEW YORK: Belsito & Co. has hired Gil Shepard, formerly associate editor

of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis publication Treatment Issues, as

editorial director. The firm has also promoted SAE Susan Drew to account

supervisor.





LAS VEGAS: Madame Tussaud’s/Las Vegas has hired Meghan Prater as

director of marketing and sales. She previously held marketing and

advertising positions at the Sahara Hotel and Casino and at

Shonkwiler-Marcoux Advertising.





NEW YORK: Spin has bulked up its communications department with the

addition of Melissa Meisel as PR associate. She arrives from Harper

Collins Publishers, where she handled publicity for titles by Arianna

Huffington and Patrick McCabe.





SEATTLE: Avogadro, a tech company headed by former Microsoft Internet

Explorer guru Thomas Reardon, has tapped pr.com for a range of marketing

activities.





TROY, MI: Simons Michelson Zieve Advertising has launched PR Partners, a

PR division. The new unit already boasts six staffers and a handful of

clients, including Big Boy Restaurants and ABC Law Centers.

Thirteen-year SMZ veteran Nikki Grandberry will lead PR Partners as

president.





WASHINGTON, DC: Ogilvy’s DC office has made the following hires: Eamon

Bobowski and Kim Booker (account supervisors); Greg Nelson and Karen

Addis (account directors); Stacia Tipton (SAE); and Denise Kennedy,

Sarah Chapin, Matthew Fleming, Cory Porter and Monte Lutz (AEs).





PHILADELPHIA: Veteran PR pro Frank Long, an independent consultant as

well as a senior counselor at Anne Klein & Associates, died on July 30

at the age of 75. He held a variety of top-level posts in the

Philadelphia region during his career, and contributed to the creation

of Motor Trend’s ’Car of the Year’ program.





AVON, CT: Martino & Binzer has tabbed Mark O’Brien as director of

PR.



O’Brien previously ran his own agency, which boasted clients such as

CIGNA Healthcare and First National Stores.
