level staff and appears to have selected Shandwick as its first

target.

Shandwick DC’s Candida Sampson has joined the agency as a director,

bringing with her 12 years of experience in PR. Additionally,

London-based Shandwick director Alan Butler, who works in the agency’s

financial services and telecom division, is moving to APCO later this

year.

’We are looking to strengthen our senior management team over the next

several months, to build new practice areas,’ said APCO/UK managing

director Nick DeLuca.

Sampson, who was an SVP for media relations in Washington, will help

develop APCO/London’s integrated communications offerings. She will head

APCO’s strategic communications unit, working closely with European

managing director of strategic communications Nick Andrews.

Butler is expected to be a key player in APCO’s developing financial

services division on an international basis. DeLuca said the two

additions would strengthen APCO’s public affairs presence worldwide.

APCO has offices in Asia, the United States, Canada and Europe. APCO,

which is headquartered in Washington, DC, said it is still looking for

staff, hoping to boost other areas of its business.
