Taylor has dipped into its purse, snapping up two-year-old boutique Shop
Shop, also a beauty and lifestyle specialist, will continue to operate
as its own entity, with president Nikki Gersten keeping her title,
clients, office and 12-member staff. Both agencies refused to disclose
terms of the deal or other financial specifics.
Lippe Taylor president Maureen Lippe said that Shop appealed to her
because it ’gives us a very young perspective.’ She added that Shop’s
ability to target younger markets should round out Lippe Taylor’s
’We have blue-chip, dot-com and b-to-b clients,’ Lippe explained. ’When
you mix that with Shop’s edgy, pulse-driven, image-oriented agency, we
now have something to offer every single client, regardless of what
stage they’re at in their branding.’
Gersten said that Lippe Taylor was the right partner for Shop because of
the firm’s integrity and reputation. ’They’re not going to try to change
us,’ she said. Lippe Taylor will assist Shop with its day-to-day
infrastructure needs, while Shop will support its new parent with
brainstorming and trend-forecasting strategies.
Lippe plans to maintain the beauty and fashion focus of her firm, but is
hoping to pitch for more hi-tech, retail and trend-forecasting
She added that her goal is to go ’where the young market is.’
Lippe Taylor’s current client list includes Glaceau, Biore,
AlwaysinStyle.com and enFashion.com. Shop counts Bigelow Chemists,
Piguet Fragrances, Dermalogica and Biotherm among its clients.
