Last Call: Temple and state - together at last

What ever happened to those kitschy campaign buttons and bumper stickers? Riding the kosher coattails of Senator Joe Lieberman, two Chicago-based companies are now hawking 'Lieberman 2000' yarmulkes, the traditional Jewish skull caps. Forget separation of church and state: for just dollars 14.95, you too can show your support for the first Jew ever to be named to a US presidential ticket - and you don't even have to be Jewish.

'We hope that it will be worn throughout the campaign by all his supporters, Jewish or not,' said Jory Rozner, CEO and founder of, which has already sold over 1,000 Lieberman yarmulkes.

The publicity ploy has been so successful it's already spawned a crosstown copy-cat. has sold 150 of its version of the Lieberman yarmulke.

Those worried about depreciation should Al Gore fail to defeat George Dubya in November, don't worry. The Lieberman yarmulke is 100% kosher, with absolutely no mention of his gentile running mate.
