SAN FRANCISCO: Hoping to cash in on the needs of its publicly traded clients and those angling toward IPOs, Text 100 has launched a North American investor relations practice.

Based out of the firm's U.S. headquarters in San Francisco, the new division will be headed by recently appointed directors Christine Belonogoff and Traci McCarty, both of whom report to Text 100 president and North American regional director Aedhmar Hynes.

Further plans include additional IR hires in Text 100's new New York office, where Hynes said demand is just as strong.

Text 100, whose North American operations handle such clients as Excite@Home and Ask Jeeves, is the latest hi-tech firm to jump on the IR bandwagon.

San Francisco-based Horn Group and the San Francisco office of Cambridge-based FitzGerald Communications have both recently made new senior-level IR hires, and GCI's San Francisco outpost recently hinted at similar plans.
