NEW YORK: Dan Klores Associates has acquired three new accounts, including New York City's first all Spanish-language news radio station.

Noticias 1380, WNNY, will launch on September 27. The station will provide a 24-hour news broadcast for the city's Latino population in the tradition of other New York news radio stations such as 1010 WINS.

The radio station's parent company, Mega Communications, owns 19 other stations throughout the East Coast and is headed up by Adam Lindemann.

'This means a lot for New York and it is important that it succeeds,' said Dan Klores. 'We will help them by developing their story and by helping them develop integrated marketing relationships.'

Klores said that too often only the traditional 'street marketing' approach is used to reach the Latino community. 'We have to go way beyond,' he said. 'The purchasing power of Latinos is enormous and the middle and upper class of the Latino public in this country is also enormous.'

Klores also adds Variety to its client roster. One of the most recognizable names in entertainment industry trade magazines, Variety named Charles Koones as its new publisher in April, following the departure of Gerry Byrne.

NYU Online, a for-profit continuing education service, is another new account for Klores.
