LAST CALL: Now journos can pitch themselves

Sometimes, stuff arrives at the Last Call desk that makes us want to give up and go home. As crazy ideas go, this one is a beauty: a Web site designed for PR people to drop random stories into, hoping that journalists with a spare few minutes will peruse the site for feature ideas.

The site (at has been dreamt up by Harvey Farr, president of LA-based agency, Farr Marketing Group, who envisages that it will be useful to all those 'small- to medium-sized companies who don't have the resources for PR, but who have stories to tell.'

Farr denies that the untargeted nature of the site's stories will put journalists off: 'I get calls from journalists looking for stories all the time. This is just another way for them to find out what is going on.'

Last Call was fascinated to find stories on educational boot camps, and the influx of Iranian Jews in LA, but wonders how long they will have to lurk on the site before a journalist from Boot Camp Monthly or Iranian Jew Digest happens upon them.
