Hispanic PR Wire and Black PR Wire will operate through different Web sites (hispanicprwire.com and blackprwire.com), but they are joining marketing operations to reach a larger community and offer a full range of minority media options to clients.

'We know there is a need,' said Manny Ruiz, the CEO and founder of Hispanic PR Wire. Ruiz comes from the agency world, having helped form Porter-Novelli's Hispanic practice.

'You don't really get targeted distribution to the Latino media,' he continued. 'We will offer the most comprehensive, targeted and accurate information to this community and Latino opinion leaders.'

Bernadette Morris, founder of Black PR Wire, plans to offer the same level of niche service. She also heads up her own agency called Sonshine Communications and has been frustrated when trying to target black media in the past. 'I know that there is a real need to reach the small black publications that may not have a big circulation,' she said.

Ruiz concluded that he hopes they will 'make a lot of people proud in the PR industry, and in our communities.'
