Specializing in media relations for lifestyle/consumer and travel-oriented businesses, Carroll Communications has already bagged its first client: EventSource, a Sausalito, CA-based b-to-b Web site for corporate meeting planners, part-owned by Sabre Holdings.

From 1998 until summer 2000, Carroll served as director of PR and advertising for The Luxury Collection and the St Regis, a group of 57 four- and five-star hotels within the Starwood Corp, which also owns the Sheraton, Westin, W and Four Points hotels.

In July (PRWeek July 31), the White Plains, NY-based company consolidated global PR operations into a centralized rather than brand-specific structure.

Two of the individual hotel brand specialists, including Carroll, lost their jobs in the reorganization.

Prior to Starwood, Carroll spent ten years with British Airways as the US communications manager, where she earned a Silver Anvil PRSA award in 1998 for her work publicizing the half-scale model of Concorde raised in Times Square.
