BOSTON: Greenough Communications Group (GCGi) - a mid-size, Boston-based firm celebrating its one-year anniversary this month - has won two accounts worth more than dollars 1 million, beating out Boston heavyweights Brodeur and Lois Paul & Partners.

GCGi secured a dollars 650,000 account with Silverstream Software, an e-business platform company. The firm also won an account with Mirror Image Internet, a digital content delivery service, valued in a similar income range.

Both companies are publicly traded.

'What we've done from the beginning is look at our clients and take a real integrated ampaign approach,' said president and CEO Phil Greenough. 'It's helped clients see much more black and white in terms of success.'

GCGi's client roster already includes Citrix Systems and divisions of Intel and Qwest.

Earlier this year GCGi beat out Shandwick to win a dollars 1 million account with Rational Software, an e-development company. 'It's a big account and it's a hot company,' said Greenough. 'That really helped us break through.'

GCGi, which opened in October 1999, has 30 employees. In a city besieged by mergers and acquisitions, GCGi expects to make revenues of about dollars 4 million this year. Greenough says the recent surge in activity in Boston has worked to his advantage. 'Clients are questioning the value of these conglomerates and are seeking relationships with smaller, more focused firms that possess energy, aptitude and experience that will help drive their business.'

Another agency source added: 'In a market that has witnessed the same five to seven agencies listed in the same static rankings, GCGi represents a new generation.'
