HONG KONG: Fleishman-Hillard has launched its first interactive practice outside the US, in Hong Kong, to serve as a regional hub for Asian clients.

The practice is said to be the first of its kind to be launched by a PR agency in Asia and it will offer web design, content management, online communications, research and online audience relationship management.

David Wickenden, director of F-H's global interactive practice, said the decision to leapfrog Europe in favor of Asia was driven by client demand.

'Hong Kong plays a major role in the convergence of the Internet and TV; there is a strong mix of international business here, and the interest in innovation is continuous,' said Wickenden.

F-H's clients in Hong Kong include Pacific Century Cyberworks, Intel and Level 3.

The agency has transferred Lee Ferrell from the US to co-head the practice as lead creative director, while account manager Alex Lanceley will lead interactive solutions.

Lanceley said clients in Asia were leading the world in demanding localized corporate Web sites.

'The Internet is used to achieve certain objectives, whether they be for human resources or marketing, and that means more and more sites need to be managed and developed in country,' he said.

Hong Kong is F-H's fifth interactive office, with other offices in London and Toronto planned in the next 12 months.
