Ford Motor Co. has taken plenty of heat this year for the Explorer SUV's exploding tires. But recently the Expedition - another Ford SUV - received some unusual press coverage of its own.
A suburban couple who bought a used Expedition from Hertz couldn't get the windows to roll down. The dealer discovered the problem - the doors had been stuffed with marijuana.
The story appeared in the Chicago Tribune on November 4 and was picked up by Reuters on November 6.
But the Ford dealer handled the episode well from a PR standpoint. Employees called the drug-laden Expedition the 'Bob Marley' edition, a one-of-a-kind car for a select audience.
Incidentally, police valued the stash at dollars 25,000.
