How did you get into PR? I've always had strong ideas about how things should be said and done by people, companies and organizations. This was the only industry I could find that would pay me for it.

How did you get where you are today? A little luck. A lot of work. Encouragement and support from friends, family, employees and clients. I don't think there's any other way to do it.

What is your most embarrassing moment? In my first agency job, I accidentally switched briefcases with the office director at a holiday party. His case was filled with confidential client documents and agency files. Mine contained a pair of galoshes and some M&Ms.

What would you like to change about the PR industry? I look forward to a time when PR is not used interchangeably with 'publicity,' never defined as free advertising, has no manipulative connotations and in fact requires no explanation at all.

Who will be the PR industry's next big hero and why? The first PR person to get his or her own recurring commentator position on CNN will become the next star of the industry.

Who do you most look like? I tell people that I look like William Hurt, but I actually look like an older Bart Simpson.

What is your favorite magazine? Men's Health. But I hate the way Oreo crumbs get caught in the binding.

Who put the 'bomp' in the 'bomp shoo bomp shoo bomp'? Probably the same person who thought Little Jack Horner sat in the corner.

Who or what do you hate most? People who don't care, mean people and people who waste your time.

With which historical figure do you identify? Moses. He never went anywhere without a tablet either.

How many hours a day do you spend on the Internet? I check CNN.com off and on all day, along with post-gazette.com, triblive.com, bizjournals.com and some trade sites for clients. That and e-mail usually eats up about two or three hours daily.

Name one thing about your past that would surprise people. I was Oprah's lead guest on a show about people with funny names.

What is your motto/philosophy? Stay with me or get out of my way. But I stole it from a client.
