The shortlist for the 2001 PRWeek Awards - So many worthy candidates, so few opportunities to properly recognize them. PRWeek proudly presents the industry's finest and most memorable for 2000

It's the New Year, and only a few short weeks remain until the 2001 PRWeek Awards on February 15.

It's the New Year, and only a few short weeks remain until the 2001 PRWeek Awards on February 15.

While the winners and honorable mentions in each of the 35 categories will not be announced until the big night, the judges have narrowed their choices to a shortlist in each category, which are presented over the next three pages. The exception is the Student of the Year Award which, as last year, will be judged later this month.

More than 50 judges, chaired by Howard Rubenstein of Rubenstein Associates, considered over 1,000 entries, a nearly 25% increase in entries versus 2000, the Awards' inaugural year.

There are four new categories this year, for which there were no shortage of compelling entries. Brand Development Campaign of the Year recognizes the continued growth or reinvigoration of an established brand. Consumer Launch of the Year looks at the best use of PR in introducing a new product or service into the marketplace. The Political Campaign of the Year will be the one whose communications team was most tactically innovative and far-reaching on behalf of a successful public election campaign. And the Internal Publication of the Year recognizes the design and editorial content that was most helpful to an organization in meeting its communications goals.

Some readers may be reminded of last year's winners by the photos topping each shortlist category. Sponsor statements in some categories were edited for space; the statements will be printed in their entirety in the Book of the Night, a commemorative full-color brochure distributed at the end of Awards night that includes names of all the winners and honorable mentions.

The results will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony on February 15 at Chelsea Pier 60 in New York City. The extravaganza evening will include a four-course dinner, cabaret, entertainment and dancing.

Don't miss the big night! For tickets, call Danielle Rouchon at PRWeek, on (212) 251-2614.
