NEW YORK: In a major departure from its emphasis on hi-tech, Silicon Valley-based Neale-May & Partners has won a place on the prestigious Lipton Foods roster.

The New York office of Neale-May has won the PR business for Lipton's Mealmakers division, an assignment that includes the Lipton Sizzle & Stir, Recipe Secrets and Lipton Side Dishes brands.

According to Neale-May SVP and New York GM Don Scott, Lipton ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty invited the firm to pitch for the PR side of the account, mostly due to founder and president Donovan Neale-May's extensive background in consumer brand marketing. In addition, New York-based EVP Ken Defren, who joined Neale-May last fall, brings 11 years' experience as director of public affairs for General Foods.

The value of the account was not disclosed. However, it is one of three that have added more than dollars 1 million in annual fee revenue to Neale-May's coffers in the past two months. In addition to Lipton, the New York office has picked up Net Vendor and LiquidLight.

With offices in Palo Alto, CA, San Francisco and New York, Neale-May has about 80 employees and annual fee billings of dollars 15 million.
