WASHINGTON: Edelman Public Relations Worldwide has signed Kenneth Adelman, former director of the US Arms Control and Disarmament Agency under President Ronald Reagan, as a senior counselor.

Adelman's friendship with Edelman vice chairman international Mike Deaver, another principal in the Reagan administration, led to the hiring. Adelman had been providing advice to Edelman clients such as AT&T and the Mormon Church on a consulting basis.

Now, he will be a part-time counselor with Edelman while continuing to operate his executive training firm Movers and Shakespeares, which relies on the writings of Shakespeare to provide lessons in leadership, ethics and crisis management. He also serves as national editor of Washingtonian magazine.

Adelman is expected to provide counsel to Edelman's international clients, which include Fuji and the Korean Trade Association.

Adelman also served as Deputy US representative to the United Nations.
