RESTON, VA: Andy Trincia, Fidelity Investments' director of government relations, is switching jobs and coasts. Communications firm Rainmaker Interactive has hired the Boston-based executive to lead Rainmaker West, its Manhattan Beach, CA, public relations and marketing practice.

'By hiring Andy as senior vice president we will be diving headfirst into financial services and corporate communications' said Michael Caputo, president of Rainmaker's PR division. Trincia has experience in both investor relations and government relations.

Both Trincia and Caputo said they see significant opportunities not just in the Los Angeles area but in regional centers such as Phoenix and Boise, Idaho, as they attempt to build Rainmaker's national reach in financial services and technology.

Rainmaker West is the result of Virginia-based Rainmaker Interactive's acquisition of the California ad agency Smith Smith & Smith last fall, a move designed to establish a West Coast beachhead. Rainmaker West has a practice specializing in video streaming and is now planning to get involved with the content side. Trincia will arrive in February and start recruiting staff for the financial services and tech PR practices.

Prior to joining Rainmaker, Trincia managed PR for the International Franchise Association in Washington, DC. After that he joined the Wachovia Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC, where he was national media relations manager. He initially managed media relations, then government relations, for Fidelity.
