AUSTIN, TX: Public Strategies Inc. (PSI) is expanding its PR capabilities with the acquisition of Austin's eight-person Kristy Ozmun Public Relations.

Ozmun becomes managing director of PSI's newly formed PR practice. 'PSI's acquisition of Kristy's firm fits into our growth strategy of offering full-service communication strategy and implementation,' said CEO Mark Rose.

Ozmun operated her own PR agency for three years after leaving H-E-B, a leading Texas grocery chain where she served as PR director. She brings along clients such as Central Market by H-E-B, Pitney-Bowes, Barr Laboratories, Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

Moving to PSI with Ozmun as senior counselor is Margaret Justus, previously Gov. Ann Richards' deputy press secretary.

PSI has hired two other Austin political veterans this week. Lizzette Gonzalez, who most recently worked for George W. Bush as his chief lobbyist to the Texas Senate, joins the agency's Austin public affairs group as a principal. Also, Bob Kelly has signed on as a strategic consultant.

Kelly worked for 20 years as Texas House parliamentarian and executive director of the Texas Legislative Council.
