To those readers who are still upset about not having a date on Valentine's Day (or is that just us?), here's where you went wrong: you didn't go to the track. Doh!
Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, NJ, is positioning itself as the new pick-up spot for trendy young people in the greater New York area.
The venue, which evokes images of leathery male gamblers tossing back cheap beer and cursing at four-legged glue factory candidates, has launched the Meadowlands Racetrack Bar Tour. DKB and Partners is organizing the program.
The goal is 'to introduce GenXer's to harness racing and the Meadowlands Racetrack as a new alternative for weekend fun,' according to Glenn Cademartori, director of marketing.
The planners see a future in the Meadowlands as a top meeting place for singles. 'It has the allure and excitement that generation is looking for,' said Kim Keating of DKB. 'It is also relatively affordable, and not gender specific.'
But don't go with too many expectations that you're going to meet the man or woman of your dreams. That would be putting the cart before the horse.
