The agency, which answered an RFP and beat out two other undisclosed national agencies, will also be involved in integrated marketing campaigns to introduce several new brands.

Neither company will divulge contract specifics, but Michelle Weese, brand communications director for M&M/Mars, said one of the main reasons M&M/Mars chose Porter Novelli was the agency's willingness to experiment with new media for marketing campaigns. The agency will handle Web page creation and media relations for M&M/Mars.

Weese said it was too early to divulge details of PN's work for competitive reasons.

M&M/Mars does not have an agency of record; its three person in-house staff manages agencies on project work.

Late last year, M&M/Mars appointed celebrity-event organizer Harrison & Shriftman to promote its new Chupa Chups brand.
