With dollars 21m stash, MediaMap buys

WASHINGTON: MediaMap, a provider of media contact information and

Web-based tools, has acquired Firewater.com, an application service

provider.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. But last year, investment

bank Warburg-Pincus backed MediaMap with dollars 21 million in expansion

capital.

Firewater, which provides Web sites for crisis and grassroots

communications, and new product introductions, is MediaMap's first

acquisition. MediaMap's services include updating media databases and

tracking media relations.

John Pearce, chairman and founder of MediaMap, declined to comment on

the cost of services, saying pricing packages were still being

determined.

MediaMap will keep all but two of Firewater's staff members. Doug

Kittelsen, Firewater's founder, will become MediaMap's chief technology

officer.
