The name is the game for UBS PaineWebber

NEW YORK: UBS PaineWebber, as part of a PR push to promote its new

name, partnered with Talk magazine last week to host the Talk-UBS

PaineWebber Innovators and Navigators Conference at the Bacara Resort in

Santa Barbara, CA.

Donna Peterman, managing director communications and marketing UBS

Americas, said the conference was chosen as the first outreach beyond

media releases to promote the new name because it would be attended by

influential luminaries in business, media, entertainment and

communications.

By month's end, UBS Paine Webber plans to mail releases and new logo

merchandise to 600 media outlets. The company has already created client

mailings and a blast e-mail of its new logo to broadcast outlets.

Peterman said the name change has been relatively easy to promote, since

it is a logical name and shows the post-merger global reach of UBS

PaineWebber, which was formed by UBS Warburg's acquisition of Paine

Webber in November.

UBS Warburg still exists as a separate company.
