DALLAS: The Container Store has hired a San Francisco-area boutique
agency to help launch its first northern California location and will
interview Ohio firms next week for a similar project in Columbus.
The Dallas-based chain selected SR Marketing in Walnut Creek, CA for a
six-month PR and marketing project involving the October opening of a
store in the San Francisco suburb. 'We really felt like we wanted
someone locally to start things off with a bang,' said Container Store
public relations director Casey Priest.
Following The Container Store's standard grand opening blueprint, SR
Marketing will help identify a local charity that appeals to the target
demographic of upscale women. A percentage of opening weekend sales will
be donated to that charity. 'We love their PR and marketing savvy and we
expect this project to be fun,' agency proprietor Susan Reynolds said of
her new client.
The Container Store has lined up five local and mid-size agencies to
interview next week in Columbus, but Priest said the company would
consider proposals from other firms. The Container Store's first Ohio
location is scheduled to open in August.
The chain currently operates 22 other stores in eight states. The
in-house staff will handle public relations for a third opening this
year in Southlake, a Fort Worth, TX suburb.
