SAN FRANCISCO: NextCard, a publicly traded San Francisco company
that provides credit cards over the Internet, has entered the final
round of a PR agency review that began in December.
According to industry sources, NextCard has heard final presentations
from three agencies vying for what is rumored to be nearly a dollars
500,000 account. VP of corporate communications Camille Lepre declined
to comment on the review or any of the public relations firms that were
invited to pitch. However, Edelman's San Francisco office, known for its
work with other financial services clients such as Charles Schwab, is
said to be one of the finalists.
Recently cited by RSI Investment Management in San Francisco and by San
Francisco Chronicle financial columnist Kathleen Pender as one of the
few b-to-c Internet stocks expected to survive the dot-com shakeout,
NextCard has handled its PR in-house for the past year. Before that,
Alexander Ogilvy served as the PR agency of record.
