FitzGerald Los Angeles left without rudder as La Monte departs

LOS ANGELES: Showbiz PR powerhouse Christine La Monte, who joined

FitzGerald Communications in November to lead a new Los Angeles outpost,

has exited the Boston-based hi-tech agency after just four months on the

job.

La Monte, a former Rogers & Cowan EVP, longtime movie studio bigwig and

former roommate of founder Maura Fitzgerald, left her general manager's

post at Fitzgerald Los Angeles last week. She was brought on board to

chase down business in the once hot digital entertainment space.

According to FitzGerald VP Fred Bateman, her departure was a mutual

decision based on changing circumstances and her desire to return to her

entertainment roots.

'Business leads in LA are more in the wireless, enterprise and Internet

infrastructure markets, rather than in the entertainment technology

space, where demand is more modest,' Bateman explained. 'In asking Chris

to lead our LA operation, were a bit ahead of the curve.'

West Coast SVP John Berard will stand in for La Monte until she is

replaced.

La Monte is the second high-level executive to exit FitzGerald after

just a few months. Cambridge-based VP Robert Padgett, the former

corporate communications VP for Priceline's Webhouse Club, who also

joined FitzGerald in November, left last week to pursue other

opportunities.
