SparkPR holds true to its start-up roots

SAN FRANCISCO: SparkPR, pledging to stay the start-up course

despite a plummeting Nasdaq, has announced the addition of three new

pre-launch tech companies to the client roster.

Bang Networks, a well-funded venture that boasts Netscape's Marc

Andreesen as a board member, selected the tiny San Francisco boutique

over eight competing firms, including Burson-Marsteller and Hill &

Knowlton's Blanc & Otus. Also signing with Spark PR are Rearden Steel, a

new company from WebTV inventor Steve Perlman, and Danger Research, a

privately held upstart in the wireless space.

'Now that all the bigger agencies have been burned and are shying away

from the start-up market, we can have our pick of the best,' said

SparkPR partner Chris Holten-Hempel, who said her firm was still taking

stock as partial payment for its work with the pre-IPO companies.
