Campaign to urge plants to clean up

BOSTON: The Consortium for Energy Efficiency is searching for a PR

firm to handle a three-year campaign to encourage companies to buy and

use more efficient industrial motors.

The RFP for the campaign, dubbed Motor Decisions Matter, sets a

first-year budget of dollars 70,000. It also mentions spending dollars

150,000 during the campaign's three-year life cycle, but Melissa

Mastrianni, a program associate at the consortium, said only first-year

funding has been finalized. The group will look for agency input on

spending levels for the second and third years.

The campaign will target corporate CFOs and plant managers, who are the

one that set motor-buying budgets and make buying decisions at most

companies, said Mastrianni.

The consortium expects to select a winning proposal April 6 and wants to

launch the campaign at a June industry convention in Chicago. Responses

to its RFP are due March 28.
