LAST CALL: Till death - or 'The Rules' - do us part

Forget marriage - what about the sacred bond between a woman and

her publisher?

The limits of AOL Time Warner's tolerance may soon be tested as Ellen

Fein, author of The Rules and its soon-to-be-released second sequel, has

filed for divorce from her husband.

According to the UK's Daily Telegraph, Fein told her publishers after

advance copies and press releases had been sent out, 'trumpeting the

happy state of Ms. Fein's marriage.'

Rules III is unfortunately subtitled, 'Time-tested secrets for making

your marriage work,' and the original book, which ignited a firestorm in

1996 when it gave allegedly anachronistic advice, promised that anyone

following The Rules would 'have one of those made-in-heaven

marriages.

A Rules marriage is forever.' Ooops.
