LAST CALL: Fleishman shows why it's PR's top dog

Why is Fleishman-Hillard the biggest PR agency in the US? Could it

be the quality of its counsel? The superior media relations skills of

its executives? Or the fact that it can train pets to act like PR

people?

This unique - and little-known - skill comes right from the top. Word

has reached PRWeek's offices of CEO John Graham's double-act routine

with his miniature schnauzer, Wolf.

Two years ago, Graham was recording a video message to welcome the

employees of Upstart, a West Coast tech agency that Fleishman had just

purchased.

The Upstart offices are full of employees' dogs, and its management

thought it would be a nice touch for Graham to appear with his dog on

his lap.

All was running according to plan until Graham began to talk about how

great Fleishman people are. Right on cue, and showing his true PR

colors, Wolf reached up and licked his owner's face. 'He didn't even ask

for an appearance fee,' reports a proud Graham. What's next? Press

conferences anchored by cute, small children?
