INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Beijing's Olympic bid gets new ally

BEIJING: Bell Pottinger has won the European account to help boost

China's chances of hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee has selected Bell Pottinger

ahead of Weber Shandwick Worldwide (WSW), which already handles PR in

Asia and the US.

The two agencies are now pledging to work in partnership to help improve

China's image abroad. On July 13, the International Olympic Committee

will decide which candidate will host the event.

According to WSW, work already being carried out in the US cites China's

improved human rights record as a reason to bring the Olympic Games to

Beijing.
