Ogilvy MD to lead R-P tech practice

DALLAS: The managing director of Alexander Ogilvy's shuttered

Dallas office has resurfaced at Read-Poland Associates, where he is

founding a new technology practice.

Don Bartholomew's long history in Texas hi-tech PR included opening

Cunningham's Austin office and managing AO's Dallas branch throughout

its two-year existence.

Read-Poland has worked to revitalize its image and client list since

Burson-Marsteller's former European COO Jeff Hunt became president in

January. Founder Julian Read remains CEO of the firm, which will

celebrate its 50th anniversary next week.

Bartholomew, who joins as SVP, said he was attracted to Read-Poland by

the chance to start a fresh tech practice that extends to Austin and

Houston.

The firm may consider tying PR measurement to sales, Web site hits or

other non-media performance goals, he said.

'We believe this is a very good time to be broadening our technology

capabilities,' Hunt said in a press release. 'The industry has returned

to a more rational environment where sound business models and solid,

profitable growth will be rewarded. Companies will be built to last, not

just to IPO.'
