NEW YORK: Craig Wood, the head of Niehaus Ryan Wong's New York
office, has jumped to rival hi-tech independent Fitz-Gerald
Communications to fill a similar post. Wood, a former senior PR
executive from Saatchi & Saatchi whose arrival at NRW last October was
heralded as a key hire for the San Francisco-based firm, has signed with
Cambridge-based FitzGerald to head up its year-old Manhattan branch.
Wood, whose former post at NRW has not yet been filled, has replaced
Laura Grimmer, a six-year employee of Fitz-Gerald who recently left the
firm to go freelance.
'I wasn't looking for a new job, but the opportunity presented itself to
work with a group of extremely talented, individuals on a very strong
client base within a unique agency culture,' said Wood in explaining his
decision to leave NRW after less than four months.
Prior to NRW, Wood spent nearly six years with advertising giant Saatchi
& Saatchi (now part of Publicis SA) running the company's business
communications/PR operations. Most recently his title was COO of
Saatchi's global b-to-b network, the integrated communications division
created by the absorption of The Rowland Company.
At FitzGerald, Wood will oversee a team of 18 New York-based employees
and a host of clients including Dynamic Soft, CMP Media and Serius.
