H&K doubles DC tech presence with ProMarc acquisition

WASHINGTON: In a widely predicted move, Hill & Knowlton has

acquired The ProMarc Agency, a 5-year-old hi-tech firm.

The acquisition brings H&K's Washington-DC based tech practice billings

to about dollars 6 million and will double its staff size to nearly 30

people.

ProMarc billed dollars 4.5 million last year and had 25 people.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the deal was

handled by parent company WPP out of London, rather than by H&K, said

Tom Hoog, president and CEO of H&K's US operations.

ProMarc's founder, Alissa Fogelman-Beyer, becomes the tech practice's

leader and senior managing director. She is also considered part of

H&K's US tech practice, headed by Maureen Blanc. David Groobert, who

handled technology marketing at H&K Washington, will now only handle

marketing.

ProMarc's Northern Virginia office will close.

ProMarc's clients include Politec, Loral Cyberstar and Ztango.
