Three FL accounts join Edelman roster

MIAMI: Edelman's Miami office has scored three new accounts -

Solutia, TracFone Wireless and Stratasys - that will bring about dollars

500,000 to the agency.

Edelman will promote Solutia's new line of hurricane proof windows,

first in Florida and then throughout the Gulf coast and Southeastern

markets.

The account is timely as new building codes are taking effect in Florida

this year, specifically mandating hurricane proof windows or

shutters.

The Solutia win is especially sweet. 'We used to represent DuPont, the

market leader in hurricane windows,' explained Alec Rosen, SVP. 'But

they cut back their marketing and branding for product marketing.'

TracFone Wireless, a subsidiary of Mexican company TelMex, has retained

the firm for product brand marketing of its pre-paid wireless phone. 'A

few years ago, pre-paid was only for the credit-challenged,' Rosen

said.

Now the company is looking to market the product to families with

children ages 10-14.

'They want their kids to have a cell phone when they go to the mall, but

not rack up bills larger than the mortgage,' Rosen said.

StrataSys, a tech consulting firm, has retained the agency to help it

target IT media for its healthcare software products.
