Omnicom beefs up Korea presence with two buys

BOSTON and SAN FRANCISCO: Two Omnicom agencies have acquired

majority interests in Seoul-based Korean PR firms in the hopes of

expanding global capabilities.



Brodeur Worldwide has acquired a majority interest in InComm and will

rebrand the agency as InComm Brodeur.



In a separate transaction, Fleishman-Hillard has purchased a majority

interest in IT Korea. The agency is the company's eighth purchase in the

region and will be rebranded as Fleishman-Hillard Korea.



John Brodeur, president of Brodeur Worldwide, said his agency has

partnered with InComm since 1997, but bought a majority stake to give

clients access to what he called 'a growing Asia network.' Brodeur

Worldwide has 10 other partner agencies in Asia.



'We see Korea as a real sparkplug to expanding our interactive and

online communications work across the region,' said Brodeur.



Meanwhile, Rick Sullivan, president of Fleishman-Hillard International,

said the first task for IT Korea will be to grow from a tech

concentration to a full-service agency. He added that he plans to

recruit additional staff, mainly in Korea.
