JVC pairs with TSI in quest for US notoriety

WAYNE, NJ: JVC Company of America has retained TSI Communications

as its agency of record in the US, replacing the incumbent agency R&J

The move comes as JVC states its intention to raise its visibility in

the US. 'TSI's primary role will be to increase product publicity for

new product lines, and also brand awareness for JVC,' said Nancy Fleming

Bird, JVC's general manager of corporate communications. She declined to

give any budget details for the account.

The consumer electronics company is a subsidiary of Victor Company of

Japan. It manufacturers audio, video and software products.

'JVC has quite a large number of digital products, such as DVD players

and camcorders,' Bird continued. 'It's a big focus for us and that is

what we will be pushing this year.'

Bird said JVC's television systems will also be hotly promoted and

include a line of flat-screen televisions called 'I' Art'

TSI will provide nationwide media relations, strategic communications

and other media-related services. The account is being led by the

agency's digital consumer group, which specializes in consumer and

Internet technologies, computer and video games, and online

entertainment media counsel. TSI is part of Interpublic and has offices

in New York, San Francisco and London.

Outside JVC's core product areas, the company is heavily involved in

sponsorship activities across the country, including the JVC Jazz

Festival, now in its 18th year. JVC also works in partnership with six

locations of ESPN Zone, a sports-oriented theme restaurant chain. JVC

provides products and promotional prizes for ESPN Zone's competitions.

JVC also sponsors the Kennedy Space Center visitors' complex in Florida.
