Morgan Stanley shopping for firm

NEW YORK: Morgan Stanley, which is currently in the midst of a

major rebranding project, is quietly casting around for a PR firm.

A source close to the talks confirmed that the bank was involved in

discussions with several agencies about their capabilities.

Morgan Stanley does not have an agency of record, but works with a

handful of firms on a project basis, including Edelman. It's thought

that the search will be for an agency to promote Morgan Stanley's

individual investors group.

The bank unveiled a new logo on April 2, following a decision to drop

the Dean Witter from its name.

It is currently running ads in The Wall Street Journal, The New York

Times and USA Today, emphasizing its latest initiative, 'Well

Connected.'

Morgan Stanley came under fire earlier this year for inviting President

Clinton to speak at a company event.

The firm received numerous complaints from customers, some of whom

closed their accounts.
