Ketchum closes CA capital city branch

SACRAMENTO, CA: Citing a slowdown in the technology sector, Ketchum

has shut its office in the California state capital.

Largely a satellite office for Los Angeles and Silicon Valley,

Ketchum/Sacramento housed just a handful of employees and serviced

mainly tech business.

According to agency spokesperson Mindy Rubenstein, at least one of the

'fewer than five' staffers will be relocating to another Ketchum

branch.

All business handled from the Sacramento office has been redistributed

to Silicon Valley and LA.

While Rubenstein emphasized that Sacramento's closing was an 'isolated'

situation, it has not been the only problem for Ketchum. While the

agency's West Coast consumer, corporate and healthcare business looks to

be holding strong, the recent loss of longtime Silicon Valley client Sun

Microsystems has reportedly cost the firm's tech practice dollars 2

million. In addition, Ketchum/San Francisco and LA both had more than

their fair share of now-sputtering dot-com clients on the roster.
