WASHINGTON, DC: The Coalition for Affordable Quality Healthcare

(CAQH), in conjunction with its agency The Hawthorne Group, is enlisting

physicians to go on talk shows and radio programs to discuss the problem

of antibiotics misuse. The effort is part of a PR campaign to halt the

spread of 'superbugs.' The campaign, called Save Antibiotic Strength, is

based on Centers for Disease Control guidelines for antibiotics. When

used incorrectly, the drugs can create resistant strains of bacteria,

giving rise to superbugs that are far more difficult to treat.
