Whiz kid will lead Sanmina comms

SAN JOSE, CA: Sanmina Corporation, a dollars 4.2 billion global

leader in the electronics manufacturing services industry with more than

24,000 employees and 75 locations worldwide, has tapped one-time

Solectron communications whiz kid Michael Donner as its first head of

marketing.

Donner, who spent the past year directing marketing communications for

Nexgenix, an Orange County, CA-based Internet consulting and services

provider, was named corporate VP of marketing, overseeing everything

from corporate communications and media relations to market research,

creative services and employee communications.

'Sanmina is extremely profitable and had never done any kind of

marketing. It has reached the point of growth where it needs to invest

in marketing to move up to the next level,' said Donner.

Prior to Nexgenix, Donner was with electronics manufacturing giant

Solectron for two-and-a-half years. He was widely credited for assisting

the company's growth to a 39,000 employee, dollars 23 billion firm.

In the new role, Donner will recruit and lead a team of five

senior-level marketing executives, including a worldwide media relations

director, director of marketing communications and a director of

creative services.

Donner said he hoped to handle most of the company's PR work in-house,

using agencies only on a project basis.
