IRS seeking firm for latest PR push

WASHINGTON: Long the object of public rancor and ridicule, the

Internal Revenue Service is planning to enhance its image with a

five-year marketing campaign bearing a substantial PR component. The RFP

will be issued next month.

A current contract with New York-based advertising firm Post & Partners

is up for review this year. According to IRS sources, that contract is

being rewritten to be 'much more comprehensive.'

'We're going to go out with a revised contract for a broad range of

multi-media services,' said a member of the IRS media relations team.

'We're still trying to figure out what our needs are. It will involve

dispersing taxpayer information.'

The budget for the project is still being decided. The RFP will be

available through the IRS Web site ( and Commerce Business

Daily on or shortly after June 15.
