BM fills corporate slot, third in a year

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has hired Judi Mackey away from Edelman

Worldwide to oversee its US corporate/financial practice, filling a post

left vacant by the departure of John Castellani in November.

The practice group is the agency's second largest, with more than 100

staffers in five markets, but has had recent problems retaining a


Castellani held the top post for just 11 months.

'A group that wants leadership is the best environment to join,' said

Mackey, who revealed that one of her first goals is to integrate

corporate communications into other practices, including technology and

public affairs.

Mackey, who was EVP and general manager for Edelman's New York corporate

affairs practice, and global practice leader for reputation management,

will report directly to Chet Burchett, president and CEO of Burson USA.

Mackey and Burchett had worked together for a time at Edelman.

At Burson, Mackey will lead practice areas including corporate

reputation, CEO positioning, internal change communication, crisis and

issues management, financial communications and IR.
