LAST CALL: PA announcer finds that talk isn't cheap

PR people know that choosing a spokesperson can affect a company's

reputation, but a case out of Fort Myers, FL proves that a

spokesperson's choice of a company can affect not only his reputation,

but also his job.

Paid dollars 50 a game, Ted Fitzgeorge, public address announcer for the

Florida Firecats Arena Football 2 League team, said he did a plug for a

Web site as a favor to a friend.

Unfortunately, it turns out the site, www.sinfulfantasies. com,

comprised, shall we say, significantly adult content.

Fired by the Firecats for pushing porn at a family event, Fitzgeorge

will, however, stay on as PA announcer for the Florida Sea Dragons of

the United States Basketball League and the Fort Myers Miracle, a Class

A baseball team.

What that says about the comparative moral standards of these sports is

perhaps something best left unexplored.
